The SARLAT takes the traditional 'regulator' dial configuration to a new level of artistic innovation.  The dial has been removed to reveal a marvelous skeletonized mechanism and provides a clear view of the operation of the clock.  Additionally, the hour markers have been carved out of the driving wheel and are displayed through the signature V-shaped movement plates.  Another unusual feature of the clock is the minute hand that, when the clock is set, drops exactly into place according to the second hand's position.

The temperature compensated pendulum is suspended on knife edges and controls a gravity escapement.  Epicycloidal gearing is employed to deliver a long running time as well as uninterrupted operation of the clock during rewinding.

All of the wheels are gold plated and the nickel-plated plates have Geneva stripes. Ball bearings at the pivots and diamond-coating on the pinions make it possible to do without any kind of lubrication, so that the clock is virtually maintenance free.
