Nienaber Bünde

Rainer Nienaber - Master of Retrograde! 

Rainer Nienaber is a German watchmaker based in Bünde, Germany.  He has been a member of the AHCI since 1993, and has been presenting his original creations to the world since 1991. 

Nienaber watches are produced by hand using high quality materials and are powered by Swiss movements that Rainer himself modifies.  In addition to designing the mechanisms, Rainer manufactures his own cases, dials, and hands at his workshop in Bünde. 

Having begun his career as a toolmaker, he later undertook and watchmaker/clockmaker apprenticeship to better utilize his precision skills.  After a client commissioned Rainer to create a regulator clock, he began to manufacture clocks, and ultimately watches to the specifications of his clients.

Through the years, Rainer Nienaber has become known as the 'Master of Retrograde Time Indications' and 'Retroman' because of his focus on these challenging displays.  His catalog now features several models with Retrograde displays:
